It's cold, grey and wet here and not much fun out so I chose to paint these higgledy piggledy old houses from a photo I took a couple of years ago. The antique terracotta tiles are so colourful especially when you can view them from above.
This little town has winding roads and steps to get up and down the hill giving lots of interesting view points. Of course having a medieval castle in the middle of town is always a bonus!

I love rooftops. Good job. All those angles
I love the higgledy piggledy roofs!!
Beautifully drawn! :) I always thought the roof designs in China are exotic ^^
Great idea for a painting - I like it very much!!
What a lovely subject to paint on a cold wet and windy day - one of those here today in England too, somehow feeling colder even though it's warmed up several degrees! I love the colour, textures and life of your rooftops - looking at the roof lines has always been one of the joys of travelling for me. This is a great painting :)
Those weathered terra cotta tiles create such a beautiful color palette!
Sorry I've been missing - broken laptop :-(
But great...I come back to this wonderful painting. I love rooftop views and this one is splendid.

Thank you for these warm colours and delicate linework !
You brightened my day (We need it too at the moement!!)
Love this, Cathy--beautiful transition of colors, and I also like how you left some "lost" edges as you went further away.
Great choice of viewpoint for your painting. I really like how you faded out the distant rooftops. When you see a hodge podge of roof tops it is not easy to pick out a few key roofs to paint. You did a great job choosing which rooftops to put in your painting.
What is the name of the village with the castle?
amazingly beautiful.
Thanks to everyone for the comments!
Barbara - The town is Caccamo in Sicily.
Lovely Cathy, haven't caught up for a while...love the Lost in Time and blue glass too
The highlights are colors in these rooftops are breathtaking! Your work is so lovely and evokes beautiful thoughts!
This is really lovely! The composition, that you took from real life, seems completely abstract!
Lovely idea. I keep meaning to do roof tiles but never get round to it. Yours are fab.
