Fly Away Peter, Fly Away Paul

Looking out of my kitchen window my eye was caught by a large flock of birds (starlings I think) all sitting along some old electric wires that span the valley.
The next morning the birds were all there again but this time sitting in a large pine tree in front of my house.  They were making a real racket but as I opened my door, suddenly they all stopped in unison.  It went eerily quiet for a few seconds... I stood and waited then the noise started up again, obviously it had been decided that I wasn't a threat.

Starlings are fun to watch, we have them here too and at times in huge amounts the sky looks dark when they take of... I like how you painted them.

Although I don't welcome the starlings to my yard (they can be a threat to some other birds I love), I very much enjoy your charming depiction of them!

I love how you captured them.

Lovely grace in the depiction of the birds, even in their perching!

I can hear the chattering when I look at your painting. Lovely!

These birds appear fascinating and threatening at the same time... the interesting thing is that your sketch leaves the doubt between the two extremes, looking nearly like an abstract composition.

This has a very lively feel; one can almost hear them and see them moving!

I don't really like starlings as they come in huge numbers .. But your sketch is so lovely and lively !

I love it!!! The colors are great, and the picture looks so familiar as I see it all the time when I drive pass certain streets in town :)

I love seeing them all perched up during this time of the year. I love seeing them do their ballet in the sky...

That could be the view from my kitchen window in late summer, when the swallows start to congregate before setting off for Africa!

Superb watercolor! I love the little shapes, especially the one where the blue bleeds the grey and the subtlety of the wire - dark in some places and light in others. Nice! I love starlings anyway, common though they may be.

Love your painting and the story about your birds. My birds come right to my studio window, if their feeder is empty, and stare at me til I fill it up again. :-)
