Sanguinello

Sanguielli are delicious blood red oranges grown here in Sicily.  Inside the orange flesh is tinged crimson and the juice is a lovely pinky red.
I used some of the juice to paint the orange below and to splash the page of my sketchbook (yes I got carried away!)  I loved the mixtures of reds, oranges and pinks and the sharp citrus smell while I painted.

Great work Cathy love the idea of using the juices, HK is just too humid to try anything like that

Wow, that is fantastic that you used the juice - the sketchbook must smell as lovely as when you were painting. The colour is wonderful. Amazingly intense. I wonder if it would fade.
The paintings themselves are superb. I love the splashes and the drip.

Thanks for the comments.
The juice took ages to dry and remained a bit sticky. Not sure if it's lightfast though!

Very creative! Of course, the stickiness is a downside ... but still!

Okay...it almost sounds like I'm the only one that has never tried a blood orange! It looks delicious and aside from the stickiness, I think it was a wonderful experiment to use the juice as paint. Lovely page! Hope it doesn't later attract ants!
