Inside my Sketchbook

Finally some better weather and I was able to draw something more than views from my car! Both of these sketches are from some of my favourite sketching spots.
The statue of a man quietly thinking is in a big park in the middle of the city, but the traffic and bustle feels along way away.  There are large numbers of green parrots flying about the park that apparently escaped from the gardens and started to breed, now it feels very exotic sitting on a bench under the palm trees!

I've drawn this view of gardens behind and old villa so many times.  My excuse is that it catches the light perfectly in the late afternoon, although in this case I was a bit late getting there and the shadows disappeared as the sun went down behind the hills.

Well I don't mind telling you Cathy - I DO fancy a peek. I'm well known for my peeking ability...that's what got me arrested but enough of that...
These two sketches/drawings/paintings are superb. This is what I would love to be able to do.
Is that the Lexington Grey at work? And the way the colours melt into each other on the trees and bushes - beautiful.

I've been missing in action for quite awhile and I've been missing seeing all the wonderful work of everyone. Your sketches are just beautiful, and I'm so glad you share them with us. nancy

I also love the light of the afternoon sun, its warmer and the shadows fall so nicely. I like the second painting, the green on the trees are very fresh, beautiful contrast against teh hills in the background.

I don't think you need an excuse to sketch in a favourite spot. These are lovely.

I like the fluid reflections in the earlier post too. Beautifully painted.
