Hurry!

This is actually one long painting but it wouldn't fit in my scanner and my camera is broken!  I've been playing around with this  idea  of  people walking with their shadows and it fitted nicely with this weeks prompt on Illustration Friday - Hurry
The girl's shadow above looks as if it really is in a hurry and can't wait for her to get a move on!

I broke my camera hurrying down a steep hill, I slipped and hurt my knee (9 stitches!) but I was far more upset about smashing the screen on my camera.  It's gone to the camera doctors to be mended so all is not lost.

I like the shadow idea! Very creative and they each tell a story! Nice work!

Yikes! I hope your knee is feeling better! Great shadow work on this. I love the colors, and the directness of the composition. There's a whole story in there about hurried, everyday life.

Ugh, so sorry to hear about your misadventure and the damage! Hope you and the camera are back in action soon!

There's a lot of story in the first one. Perhaps he knows her, or perhaps he is a sinister fellow! Lovely style and shadows. The second image is really nice too. I like the bright red coat. And she looks seriously deep in thought, her shadow even moreso!

Love it, great paintings and like before, I really like your shadow work. I hope you get the camera back working again, I know I feel a bit lost without mine...

Great work!!!

Oh Cathy! So sorry to hear bout your knee...and your camera! I hope you're on the mend. I'll look forward to seeing the joined piece (there's a way to "stitch" them together in Photoshop, but I am clueless about it)but it's interesting to see how well these work individually as well. You are the master of delicious shadows.

I hope your knee is doing better. I love your paintings. It seems to me that she's in such a hurry that she startled the man when she rushed past him.

The watercolors are so dynamic, but what about YOU?? Nine stitches are a lot. How is your knee now? Swollen? Are you icing? I did something similar last year cleaning eaves troughs. The ladder came down, with me still on it. I think I ended up with 15 stitches in my shin.

My knee was swollen & bruised but is much better now thank you.

The man in my painting does look a bit shifty, I'd better keep an eye on him!
Thanks for the comments.

I'm glad both your camera and knee are on the mend!

I love this idea with the shadows, very interesting and nicely done!

I like these three characters. It's interesting we can presume how they are in real life just by looking at their postures and movement.
The man really looks suspicious.
Nice work!

Love that young lady's shadow, and how it gives a completely different perspective on how rushed she really looks!

I love these shadowed figures! But my goodness! I know I'd be more upset about my camera too, however, I do hope your knee is getting better :-)

sorry, about your mishap! that is upsetting.
The shadow figures are very interesting. Do you use actual photographs as a starter or are you guessing what the shadow should look like? I am sometimes surprised how different a shadow looks in reality from what I expect.

These were painted from a load of photos I took, I mixed up the people into the order I liked. The shadows are the actual shadows and what orignialy attracted me to the scene.

Come to think of it. I remember you hurting your knee and breaking your camera but I must have heard about that on a different post.
It's my age I think.... :-)
