Every Day Matters 273 - draw a selection of tools.
I had a good look round and I found this old hammer that was inherited with the house. It's very basic, just a lump of wood and the rusty top part held together with a nail, nothing posh here! I've always fancied drawing some rust. I love anything old and used, loads more character than something new.
Sketched in pen and coloured pencil.

Oh this really appeals to me. Not only to do I also love old and worn out things but I'm married to a woodworker whose creed in life is 'he who dies with the most tools wins'. LOL.
Fabulous!
Well done ! I love the blue-purple hue at the end of it !
Beautiful - so much detail and character and RUST. This is a really back to basics toolmaking
You've done a beautiful job capturing the different textures.
You really captured the rust and the character of this tool. I too love old, used things- so interesting. Good work!
The textures and colors are wonderful.
I love both the drawing and the hammer :) beautifully conveyed
I love this drawing - and Malcolm could Gillian's husband a run for his money in the tool-owning competition!!

Lovely - really well done, and so much more interesting than a new tool.
This hammer has so much character! Love your drawing of it!
Anne - I thought about your husband too when I read Gillian's comment!
So what is the 'top' of a hammer called..head?
Beautifully done! Now that hammer could tell stories...
Wonderful work.
Thats really lovely drawing (reminds me of my dads old tools, wish I had been able to bring some home... good memories though). Well done.
I don't know how you did it, but you managed to make a humble tool look beautiful! nancy
This is every mechanical engineer's favorite tool! =)
I love the way it's colored, I love the rust, I love the fine details done with pen, there's a lot of subtle brilliance in this one that makes it irresistable
Really nice. I think it's neat you drew something so old and forgotten.
Your hammer is very beautifully done..
This is awesome! What kind of colored pencils do you use? It's really great!
amazing detail and colors!
A great sketch - a hammer with such character!
Fantastic job! I love the colors in the wood and rusty head.
wow, what a beauty!
Beautifully drawn and wonderfully colored! Excellent!
Wow! Beautiful color/texture work! Great shadowing, too. It looks so neat and well balanced!
I like your hammer too. I will be checking in from time to time. I love Sicily and I think it's great that you are immortalizing scenes with your pencils.
Please forgive me if I comment twice (trying to learn this OpenID thing). I really like your blog and look forward to reading about your adventures in Sicily. I have spent a couple of weeks there and I can see you've caught the spirit of the place.
