Forest Fight For Sunlight

Like a forest fight for sunlight, that takes root in every tree.
They are pulled up by the magnet, believing they're free.
Everyday matters n° 272 - Draw a line from your favourite song.
There are so many songs that I would like to choose..how many goes at this  can I have?
The above song is 'Carpet Crawlers' by Genesis, most of their songs have a story or a tale to tell, so they are fun to illustrate.   Drawn in charcoal pencils and a bit of pastel (the green!).

Take a look at me now,  there's just an empty space
And there's nothing left here to remind me, just the memory of your face.

Still with Phil Collins, this line comes from his song 'Against all Odds', one that I have on in the car everyday.
Especially for a friend who  also likes Genesis.  Drawn in coloured pencil  and smudged.

Two very different but both lovely pictures which illustrate the lyrics so well. I love the soft dreaminess of the one illustrating 'Against all odds'.

These are both beautiful, but I especially like the bed.

OMG! You just showed me a whole new level of what one can achieve with colored pencils (which I love to use myself, but not with anything even close to this perfection!). Wonderful, breathtaking drawings, really!

Fascinating! I really like the folds of the bed sheet the pillows and just the overall drawing. And the tree is beautiful!

These are both beautiful, Cathy, but the 2nd one is ultra-amazing. A perfect visual for those lyrics too. x

They're both great, but the second one is my favorite! I love the wrinkles in the sheets and pillows and the overall atmospheric look. It's wonderful!

Love these! I draw in colored pencil too. How do you "smudge" them? I've never tried! Weird, huh?

Thank you for the comments x

Revelle - I just smudge with a tissue wrapped around my finger, sometimes I use a stencil brush (shortened) to swish the colour about and that's about it really.

The tree is beautiful. I love the older Genesis stuff. But the bed, the bed brought tears to my eyes. Amazing.

Beautiful sketches. The figure lying in the bed is a lovely sketch, you have given it a real dream-like quality. Good track choice too!
