Liquid Patterns

There was a perfection reflection of the cathedral in the still water until a pigeon touched the surface  to drink and the surface of the water dissolved into a shimmering liquid abstract pattern.
The 'fountain' is inside the peaceful and quiet Cloisters of Monreale Cathedral.

Cathy this is exquisite. I love how you captured the moment. So peaceful and tranquil. Beautiful skill with pencils.

Well, I was only two behind in your posts. Not bad. The pigeon is such a beautiful image - the water is amazing. The bird is amazing. The texture of the concrete is, well..I'm getting repetitive. This is a stunning image. A beautiful work - if I did this I'd be awfully proud.

And I could have sworn that I commented on those cherries on the string - masterful!

Very inspiring! Love the composition and your insight capturing shimmering, not perfect reflection. Did you really do all of it with colored pencils?

Thank you for those lovely comments.
It's 100% coloured pencil, built up in layers.

Dan- You probably did comment on the original cherries watercolour...I did two versions just to confuse you!

Beautiful. I like the way you have captured the quality of the light in the reflections

What a lovely subject - beautifully rendered too - as always!
