Oranges and Lemons

I bought a few sheets of new watercolour paper this week,  a make of paper from Germany  that's new to me called Schoellershammer.
Naturally I had to try it out so I cut up one sheet into small 'sketch' size pieces.  The paper has a raised cloud like texture  which could be good or bad depending on how much detail you like to paint.
I also tried out coloured pencils and pastel over the watercolour just to see what happened.

Neither worked particularly well on the raised surface but it was worth a go.

The paper fits the bill for what I was looking for ...something reasonably priced to use for watercolour sketches instead of carrying round a heavy pad.  I had a look at the Schoellerschammer website and although I don't know exactly which one I've got, the paper is acid free.

Looking at your colourful works, the paper you chose appears good. I like the contours of the paintings, and the variety of orange-yellow-green tones that give reality and depth to every subject, even in these quick study sketches.

I have a small bloc of that paper that I bought years ago. I am still looking for a good use for it. Your sketches look great!

Those sketches look really lovely to me : beautiful warm colours and soft lines !
But it's always difficult to find all the needed qualities in one brand of paper !

The orange and lemon stand alones look more relaxed and flowing. I like your way of handling their shadows and refected highlights.

So colourful and juicy! And these are just sketches? Well, to me each one of them is a piece of art.

Seems that no matter what paper you use, your art is still terrific!!

These are beautiful little paintings. I think they worked really well. Your colors in your shadows are lovely. Have you ever tried Raffine mixed media paper, which you can buy in pad or loose form from asw.express.com or Jerrysartarama.com? I use it a lot in my watercolor sketchbooks and like the results
