Wild Olive

Another olive tree...I do love their twisty, bumpy branches and trunks.  This one is growing wild up in the hills nearby, I thought it looked like it had its hands on it's hips!
Watercolour and pen.

Very well drawn, and I am so glad that tree is your favorite subject because it means we get to see a lot of these all the time. Thanks for your comments Cathy!

I like this very much: a tree with so much personality could illustrate a story maybe?

love it. it's like a figure drawing - so much emotion. it seems like a tortured survivor.

gorgeous tree! It definitely has presence, and character. I love trees as well. I'm working on an old droopy, moss and lichen covered willow for someone right now. Very challenging!

Hi Cathy,
Your paintings are beautiful and for me really capture the essence of Sicily. I have family over there and we spent time in the hill town of Caltebellotta. I used to get up early every morning before the kids and finds doorsteps to sit on so that I could sketch and try to capture a piece of the gorgeousness. Your paintings have now bought it all back. Thank you!

Missed this one! Love it! - gnarly, twisted, surly and unsettled - seems like it'd slap you if it could! You are the master of gnarly trees!
