My Flexible Friend

Everyday Matters 267  was to draw something flexible, so here's my friend in a Yoga pose.  This shows how flexible  she has become doing Yoga and Pilates.  I have just started Pilates in the past few months and I am seeing and feeling the benefits already.
My friend  has been staying with me for the last couple of weeks, but now finds herself stranded due to the volcanic ash cloud over Europe and we don't know when she will be able to fly back to the uk.  It could be worse, at least she's got somewhere to stay, sunshine and cheap wine!

What a great sketch! I love everything about it.

Beautiful sketch - I love it! I just used it to torture my wife who took a yoga class and couldn't stand it! She groaned. :) Love the sparse line, and great color work, especially on the pants and blouse.

This is a wonderful little drawing! Very nice job with the shadows, and the little details like the curl of the mat. I'd love to be that flexible again! nancy

I can't really remember seeing any of your drawings with human figures, and mind I say it's awesome! I really like the manga/cartoon style, the expression and all. The colors are of course as stunning as always.

Great sketch and pose The shadows under the body are amazing.- did your friend hold the pose while you sketched and how long did she have to hold it for?
It sounds as though she has paid for her accommodation, cheap wine and sunshine !

My friend could hold the pose only for a few minutes so I had to take a photo, she posed in various positions but I liked the light on this one.
Thanks for the comments!

Fabulous drawing and composition Cathy.

Lovely drawing, perhaps it is a good thing that your friend is staying with friends. It is a nightmare for people.. :(

Right on. She is good at yoga and you are certainly good at drawing.
Her pose is a goal of mine.

Wonderful sketch! And I love the idea of taking photos of someone doing yoga poses. Now, if I could only find someone to pose for me that does yoga...

Great sketch. Ah, cheap wine and a place to stay is much better than all those people who are stuck in the airports. Maybe you can get her to do some sketching with you in the meantime.

Great sketch! Maybe she can take a train?

This is a great interpretation of the challenge, and a great sketch. I agree with Alex, I like the manga/cartoon style very much! Well done.

Hope your friend gets to go home soon (if she doesn't prefere to stay of course, she could probably be worse off is my guess).

Wonderful art. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for the comment on my bad wrist drawing. Yes it's the hand that I draw with, so it's pretty interesting to be drawing something that's not exactly the same all the time ^^

Yoga and Pilates are great ways to make your body flexible because these workouts require you to engage your whole body. Pilates and yoga not only stretch your body, but it also develops your body's strength, balance, good posture, and breathing. If you are still doing Pilates, I am certain that by now you have acquired a flexible body.
