Living on the Ceiling

watercolour

I sketched and painted some geckos that come to visit every evening.  They wait for  unsuspecting insects that are drawn by the light, then they quickly gobble them up.   I love their little spread out toes that seem to stick to the wall and ceiling like suckers. Geckos can't blink or close their eyes, they use their very long tongues to clean and moisten their eyes.

I did not know that geckos lick their eyes to moisten them... but you know what, I spent two weeks in Phoenix in July, and I was ready to lick my own eyes too! Your paintings are so pretty! I like the earthy colors and the gecko body lends itself so well to good composition, the eye moves around the piece beautifully!

By the way, your drawing have everytime some fascinating hue and lively mood. And you skills are really impressive.
Have I said that I love your drawings? Again?

Real life looks nothing like the commercial character. If I found them on my ceiling that would freak me out. I've had skinks on the floor and this summer learned they can climb the walls of our shed but thankfully haven't seen that indoors. Really like the colors of the second one.
