Down on the Beach

Coloured Pencil 16x12cms

To go with the little boy on the beach below, here's the little girl.  I used an old photograph of my daughter as a reference, although she's 21 now.
It is also the same photograph that I used the very first time I attempted something in coloured pencil nearly six years ago.  Just for fun I dug it out.....I only had a set of 20 colours  which made me learn quickly how to mix the right (ish) colours.

Oh that is marvelous Cathy.
And the other one is great too.
I am amazed at what you can do with coloured pencils.

Another extraordinary drawing. She is just adorable, with all of those wonderful hair wisps around her face.

This is a beautiful complement to the boy on the beach. I also like that you showed the earlier drawing. It, too, is very nice...but I can see how you have progressed! This version is softer--and somehow more "whole." Beautiful work!

This is lovely and goes so well with the boy you have drawn.

Thxs for sharing the 1st version, it shows how far you have come.

She's great. What I notice between the two is that you have really mastered the capturing of LIGHT in your art.

Thank you for the comments, I'm glad you see some improvement :)
I have a little bit of work to do on both children, seeing them on screen highlights any small problems.

Jill - I'm glad you liked the book!

Thanks Jennifer - I'm off to have a look.

Absolutely wonderful! Reminds me of my daughter a few years ago. It's fun to look back at older works too and see how far we have come expressing ourselves in a given media. I also like the one of the boy posted below. These should make beautiful cards :-)

This portrait is one of your best works, the shining light has something special that appears to me as a sort of filter of nostalgia... really beautiful!
