A few leaves that come from my small vine of strawberry grapes. These are small black, sweet grapes that smell of strawberries and are wonderful to eat. Unfortunately they didn't bear any fruit this year but the leaves turned a burnt orange colour and crisped up into lacy shapes.
Hopefully next year will be a better harvest but I decided to immortalise the leaves anyway, too pretty to resist!

Wonderful, Cathy! You always inspire.
They are beautiful leaves! Great colors and shapes and curl. It's no wonder you wanted to draw them.
Lovely autumnal colours....and great drawing :)
Autumn colours are my favourites for quilts, and I also use a lot of leaf shapes in applique, so your leaves really speak to me!!
Hello Cathy,
I popped a few leaves in my pocket to draw later today - unfortunately they didn't quite look the same when I got them home. Still, I do have your drawing to look at instead.
Lovely artwork.
Stew.
Fantastic looking leaves Cathy =) You've somehow managed to put life back into lifeless
Great leaves! - Barbara
Beautiful colors! So I'm wondering...do they have years when they go dormant, or was weather a factor? We planted grapes three years ago and have yet to have a single grape!
Two to three years you should have fruit. I have never heard of strawberry grapes, they conjure up a delicious tasting fruit! Beautiful sketch.
How beautiful! You captured all the turns and crinkles so well!
Agree with Dan. An amazing job drawing and then successfully painting all of the curls!
A page of poetry, leaves dancing across in beautiful abandon! I am sorry you were absent any grapes this year, but these did make a grand model for your creativity!
Looks like you've been reading your botanical illustration book - these are great!
Clare - they're delicious, different to other grapes..I've also heard them called American Grapes if that helps.
They do seem to have good years and bad years but I'm no expert on gardening, it's all a bit 'hit and miss'
Sue - I'm halfway through the botanical book, I could never do all the detail needed, but this is definately inspired by some of the work!
Thanks for the comments

Never hear of strawberry grapes, sound really good. The leaves of the vine look very interesting and I like how you drew them, well done!!!
Beautiful Cathy, fantastic colour
These are absolutely beautiful, Cathy!
A sort of harvest anyway - the subject for another of your great sketches! These are beautiful - I love the intricate twists and turns.
Nice, warm colors - and love the curls.
