My sketchbook finally arrived for this year's Arthouse Sketchbook Project and I couldn't wait to start filling it up.
This is the inside cover and first page, the space on the left is empty so that I can write something.
I chose the theme 'encyclopedia of....'
Here's the next couple of pages in watercolour, coloured pencil and pen. The paper in this sketchbook is better than last year's paper, although still a challenge I've decided to go with it and not change anything.
There are less pages too, so easier to fill without running out of ideas (hopefully!). Encyclopedia of..what you may ask? Well I haven't completely made up my mind yet, but it will be a 'mini' encyclopedia that's for sure!

What beautiful pages! You've made a great start on your project. I especially love the moss on your trees.
Gorgeous!
I was about to say pretty much the same things that Sandy has said. So let me just say that I hope we'll get to see the rest of your wonderful pages when this is all finished!
Well, I knew you'd show me up - I haven't touched mine for a few weeks.
It's still horrible paper but you've worked your magic as usual - superb work!
Exciting! Can't wait to see more of your "encyclopedia of ... "

The first pages are gorgeous, and that tree looks amazing! This is going to be a beautiful encyclopedia!
Love the little circular tree vignette, and the quote. Nice start.

Four pages in and your book already is a treasure!! Beautiful work . . . I love how you even painted the inside front cover!!! Brilliant stuff!!
Great start, these are gorgeous!
Funny that we both finally got started on our sketchbooks this week. I've got a LOT to learn about the whole process. Yours is so lovely already; and you're right...the paper quality isn't so hot, but it doesn't seem to have prevented you from creating beautiful pages!
Oh, and congrats on the success of your fabulous colored pencil pieces!!
I love the colors and how you work magic with pencil, pen and watercolor. You set a great example for all of us - what a wonderful idea to use the inside of the front cover as part of the first spread! You also set a very high standard. I wish I had your talent and experience.
My sketchbook came two days ago and my first thought was "How can I fit all my ideas into so few pages?" I may have to add pages, or foldouts -- or scale back my grandiose ideas in favor of higher quality sketches, like yours.
Thank you Connie for you lovely comment (and to everyone else too!)
What great pages to start your project off with. I look forward to seeing how it develops.
Awesome pages =)
Great pages Cathy, good luck with it!
Oh my, what a beautiful start! How many pages are there in the sketchbook? I guess I've always thought there would be at least 365 pages for a year...
