The next few pages of my sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project 2012. This is an old plant container in the grounds of an old villa, the long grass is a figment of my imagination!
My theme is 'Encyclopedia of..' and it feels as if it's going to be an encyclopedia of secret places, perhaps not the ones you would usually find or notice if you visited Sicily?
There are plenty of these old balconies about, but you have to look up while you're walking along the road. (This can be unsafe given the state of the roads and pavements)
I've been using a small amount of watercolour on the flimsy sketchbook paper, which causes some crinkling and the paper feels a bit crispy now!

Well, as I sit around, on my thumbs, procrastinating starting my book for this project, you are filling your pages with stunning "gorgeousity!!!" It's going to be a masterpiece; I only hope we get an opportunity to view your work here, as I understand that the work from the U.S. won't be on the European tour. Anyhow, these "crispy" pages are showstoppers!!!
I have to agree with Betty about your "gorgeousity"! What a perfect term for what you do. These are stunning (but I like "gorgeousity" better)!
They're both so beautiful ... I'd love to see your book in person when it's finished. nancy
Now that's what I call creative - an encyclopaedia of secret places - wonderful! Gorgeous sketches to illustrate it too. x
Lovely pages again. This wil be one awesome sketchbook!
Fabulous - I love the balcony!!
Love the creative perspective on the balcony sketch.
I'm with everyone above: "Gorgeousity!!!", Stunning, Wonderful!,Awesome,Fabulous, Creative and to add my own adjective: 'Splendicious!'
These are lovely - your grasses set the urn off beautifully and your perspective in the balcony painting is wonderful. I can just picture Juliet up therre ...!
An encyclopedia of secret places - excellent! These are great pages.
Those are enchanting paintings! I'm so impressed that you made them in that little sketchbook with the slippery pages (I've done one of those before). I would love to pick up your finished book at the library and explore all your beautiful work. How many pages have you done so far?
That is such amazing perspective on the window. I love it!
I love the idea of a secret places encyclopedia. Beautiful drawings, the both of them - the balcony is particularly awesome, seen from that angle (and as always, your treatment of light and textures is extraordinary).
Love these! Awesome perspective!
