Yes this is a special tomato, it's the first of my tomato crop of this year. Of course a tomato can't go anywhere without it's best mate Basil! So both were immortalised for posterity in my sketchbook then I ate the tomato with an omelette made from fresh eggs from my friend Gabriella's hens. A simple but wonderful meal and all homegrown.

Dear Cathy, these are the symbols of Summer in the kitchen for me! By the things you say, I can tell that you have a healthy, enviable lifestyle...
Beautiful colours and very good technique, as usual!
beautiful rendering of a quintessentially summer pairing!! YUM!
Yummy! I'm envious. I haven't seen any tomatoes in my garden yet, but they'll come. Lovely drawing.
Mmmm, I can smell them both just by seeing your sketch. Those simple meals are the best.
There's nothing better than home-grown Cathy, and the first of the season are a real treat.
A nice addition to your sketchbook.
YUM!!!!
I can smell and taste that tomato. lovely work :-) Why are tomotoes so much nicer as you go South ~ it must be the sun hours!
Perfect combination (for taste and colour!).

Ah, lucky you to be able to eat your own homegrown produce! The drawings are awesome! I'm admiring the shadows under the tomato especially...
I know just what you mean - nothing like the taste of your own garden produce! Lovely sketch.
auguri. I bet it tasted as good as it looks.
Sounds divine! (as is the drawing !)!
Yum, tasty! Looks like a great tomato with many more to come.
Great Cathy....and love the remedies below too
Simply beautiful, and I have never seen a tomato with so many curves before, this one sure looks like a cross between a tomato and a pumpkin =)
