Everyday matters - A travel memory
I haven't travelled very far this year but I did drive to the other side of the island to visit a small town atop a very high mountain. When we arrived the road up was closed and the only alternative was the cable car, a ride of about 10 minutes. It went up and up, higher and higher and apparently this was the view from the window.....I wouldn't know as I had my eyes closed for the whole journey, going up and coming down!
It was definately quicker than the car drive up, but why was the road closed?
We soon found out why, as we stepped off the cable car we heard the cars racing by. There was a hill climbing car race going on. I'm not a motor racing fan, but I have to admit it was exciting!

I'm amazed at the variety of scenes your island home has to offer.
The hill climbing one is a bit different from your usual subjects - that central figure brings it life. Bravo!
Great Cathy....I've just caught up with your blog....love the olive tree and beach huts too
Impressive drawings, the both of them! I love the second one, how the sunlight is rendered by the white road. It's neat!
I am right there with you, closed eyes and all! But your sketches are simply beautiful! Thrills and chills, and thankfully, no spills :-)
I've never heard of such a car race- interesting!
In spite of clamping your eyes shut, you captured the feeling of height very well.
Great scenes! I like the perspective in the first one. [How did you do that with your eyes closed?]
Nice pictures. I'd have my eyes closed too. I'm not even sure I'd hop aboard. Two times when I've ridden these things, the very next day someone fell out of them somehow. I didn't want to go for the third try! Guess I have to admit to a little superstition.
Like you, I would have had my eyes closed! Glad you opened them long enough to see the scenes for your pictures!!
I love the drawing of the cable cart. I too would be scared to open my eyes, but also too curious not to. So I'd probably be blinking the whole way! ;-)
Love these scenes Cathy. I'm not a big fan of heights either, and your first sketch instantly brought back a cable car trip in Switzerland earlier in the year. Much happier when my feet are back on solid ground ...

Although I only can see one picture, I just knew that I could count on you to capture a special memory. Nice going!
Wow, you really captured the sense of height and distance in the first drawing. It's breathtaking!
Great couple of sketches. Looks like you captured the moment if you wanted to or not. Fabulous!
Love it!
Oh I don't like heights either - scared of falling. These are great drawing, was a fabulous surprise.
these are so cool! =) Definitely brought out the race spirits. Love the perspective of the cable car
