You knew it's nearly summer when the beach huts start going up. These are on Mondello beach just on the outskirts of Palermo, a popular place for the younger generation with music blasting from the bars and scooters parked along the side of the road. But it does retain some of its old fashioned elegance with it's Liberty style summer homes and the famous Charleston Restaurant (now Le Terrazze).

LOVE this as it is just what would attract me so much I would HAVE to draw it....wonderful design!
This could almost be Brighton! What a delightful subject - beautifully worked too. x
Hey - I can leave a comment again. Blogger must have woken up.
What a GREAT sketch . . . it sounds like the perfect place to "kick back!"
I love your beautiful summer palette. I can almost feel the warmth coming from your painting!
Lovely sketch! There is a place called Southwold not too far from me that is well known for it's beach huts. I love to see them as they aare all so brightly painted.
Well, I've never heard of a "beach hut" before, but I sure do love this charming little painting! nancy
Lovely. Pencil crayon or w/c?
It's a beautiful little painting that definitely gets me in the mood for summer. Your colors are beautiful, and I love the simple composition.
I wish someone would tell our weather that it is supposed to be summer!! Your beach hut makes me long for long lazy hot summer days!!
Seesue - It's both watercolour and coloured pencil + ink!
I found your blog via "The Fading Rose". I love your sketches and photos of Palermo.
Love, love, love it!
Wish I was at the beach, any beach, right about now. That's a great sketch!
So colorful and nice. It gives you a clean and hopeful feeling. I'd like to see one at the end of the summer too.
Absolutely love the drawing. It's relaxing to look at
Wonderful drawing, so expressive! I love this season, when summer arrives and it's not to hot yet. And I love seeing the beach huts go up, too (especially this year, after all this rain...)
