Float On

Watercolour pencil and coloured pencil

Everyday Matters  N° 281 - Draw what keeps you cool

I think one of the best ways to keep cool on a really hot day is just to float about in the sea, demonstrated  here by my son!
Of course a swimming pool is just as much fun and if you haven't got one of those handy perhaps one of those kiddies paddling pools?   There is something so relaxing about  letting go and moving with  the waves.  My son's ring was actually attatched to a small boat so there was no danger of him floating away....or he could have ended up in Tunisia!

you did a great job of depicting the water and buoyancy of the figure!

Delightful- a great scene and lovely drawing. Roll on summer !(it's a rainy night in Sydney and about 11 degrees C outside. It reached a top of 16C today (about 60 F I think).

Lovely! I like so much the effects of transparency and reflection on the water that you represented so well!

Very pretty and soothing to the eye. I wish I could float along right next to him!

Oh, it looks so inviting! Well done! When I lived in Boise, we would float the river all summer. I often didn't even realize we had broken 100 degrees. I'm longing for that freezing cold water right about now!!

I have a love/hate situation with water..I love playing in it, I love to drink it, I love it cleaning me and keeping me cool..and it's fun. I hate it because I am scared of it, I hate it as I think sharks and river monsters are lurking even inside a swimming pool.
But there's another thing that I love about water...when people paint it, it looks awesome. You drew the water so well, I'd jump in without hesitation ^^

What a lucky boy! I love the way the red rope peeks through the waves. Water is so hard to paint, but you did a wonderful job. Yup, I would love to jump in too!

Just stopped back in to say that I just read your comment over on Paloma's garden post and it really struck home for me. After my last self-portrait (#7), I moped around the house feeling a little insecure about my abilities. Finally last night I decided that I needed to hurry and do another, without the seriousness this time. I love the results (aren't posted just yet, but will be later today). It isn't perfect; I made mistakes. But I really enjoyed it. You articulated it perfectly for me. Thanks!
