EDM 268 was to draw something you need. I thought about this a lot..what do I really need?
There are lots of things I 'think' I need, but when it comes to the crunch, what I really need is more TIME.
Time to do the things I love, like my art, time to spend with the people I care about, time to do all those things we keep meaning to do or the things we put off until tomorrow.
So how can you draw time? I decided to draw my Dad's old watch, my Dad died a few years ago, but his watch is still ticking on and keeping perfect time. There must be a moral in that somewhere!

That's a real delight, Cathy, both for the story and the thought behind it. Those shadows beneath the watch are perfect!
Thats a lovely painting, and the story behind it struck a cord with me... Its really beautiful. Im waiting for my dads watch (he as well passed away, almsot two years go) and my brother has his watch that he will send to me.
I did a really good job on catching the emotion of the watch, well done
Good thought! Yes, more time is definetly a good thing. Beautiful sketch.
An excellent way to describe the time you need! The leather strap looks so real. I think we could all use more time... and sleep, too.

Fabulous post - I haven't done the challenge yet, but also need time and wear my father's old watch since he died in 1997!
such a timeless piece of drawing, with such strong meaning behind it. I've always loved worn and old watches, they are like really good friends, old working horse that's been with you thoughout your ups and downs. I really love the presentation and the colors. Amazing post this is!
Good thought and a lovely sketch.
Fabulous idea and a beautiful illustration for it.
A beautiful drawing and touching words to accompany it...very meaningful on multiple levels...:)
Wonderful sketch and I think it's perfect for the idea! Love the shadows!
Good one, Cathy! You came up with something that most people need.
Great idea and sketch, I could certainly do with more time. The watch reminds me of my father, I think its a great way to depict time
Beautiful, both the picture and the sentiment Cathy, X
Really lovely. Super drawing and a lovely subject
Wow. What a great job on this watch. I think it'd be lovely in a little frame by a desk or somewhere you can be reminded of your dad often. Yes there is a moral to the story - you dad lives on just as his watch is. I so enjoyed this post.
What a great job on something very special to you! nancy
