Trying to Keep Up

A couple of sketches from this week, although I have been working on some bigger paintings too.
At the moment it's difficult to even find time to post on my blog, I hope by the time next year comes around (not long now)  to be more productive and above all more organised.  Not sure how I will do that but I can try!

.

I was lucky enough to have two herons perform a fly past while I was hanging out the washing.  My house is on a hillside so often birds fly past at nose level so to speak, this time one of the herons landed on a water tank across the road.  I couldn't see his legs so I  had to use some imagination and I don't think they are quite right!

Cathy, I absolutely love the first one... Everything about it, and maybe because it somehow reminds me of my father (he used to have a cap like that, dress much a like and even some days sit like that when he was taking a break. Lovely, really lovely!!

Love the birds, Cathy. You are so fortunate to have them do all those close fly-bys.

Wonderful! We see herons doing their gently lolloping flight over head sometimes, but not usually clear enough to see well, and only one at a time. What a treat to see two. I love the man sitting too. Good luck with your plan for New Year organisation!

Hello Cathy,
I just love, love, love these two.
The first one is fantastic - why can't I paint people like that?
The herons are great too.
I need to get more organised in 2013. Organisation is the key...but I've lost the key...I put it down somewhere. I need to get more organised in 2013. Organisation is the key...but I've lost the key...I put it down somewhere. I ne.....

I LOVE that man on the bench (well, I don't even know that man, but I love the painting you did of the man...) It is so moving and poignant and carries such a strong story... Well done! I still can't call these sketches, though. They are truly finished works of art.

Beautiful and do delicate. You have found time to do these and that is wonderful. I had my busy week last week and now to stay low key til Christmas. It is hard to make time to flickr/blog/comment as well as draw and scan !

The beauty of watercolor comes through in your sketches.

These are amazing! They look so organic and natural, and showed a lot of control in your techniques :)

What you found time to do is wonderful. I love the way you blended the washes together and captured the body position of the old man.

Yup! Know the feeling! Cool sketches - like the looseness of the first, and I think the herons look fine! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
