Sight

'Sight' for Illustration Friday.
This little snake was on my terrace and I had to get close up with my camera to pick up the details of his face.... my sight just wasn't good enough. (I can hear many of you shouting at me not to get close to the snake, but I think he was fairly harmless)
He looked at me and I looked at him, I think perhaps his sight was better than mine?  Fascinating  the way the markings around his eyes made them seem much larger and more frightening.

I would never ever be that close to a snake maybe because I am Australian.
Beautiful work.

Cathy, I'm glad you got eye to eye with the snake, and also took a photo. Your painting of him/her is wonderful!!!

Great angle to draw him from and nicely done.

Please be careful with snakes, even little, harmless looking ones can be deadly.

I do not like snakes - at all!

Saying that, I do however LOVE your illo - beautifully done! ;)

Beautiful snake and wonderful watercolor work on it! I love seeing (and touching, when possible) snakes, although I'm afraid of them when I don't know if they're dangerous.

Just catching up after the holiday! I'm not sure that I would want a snake on my doorstep .... but perhaps I wouldn't mind if it meant that I could produce such a wonderful drawing!

It's a great picture but snakes are scary to me after losing one dog, almost losing another and almost getting bit myself but not all snakes are poisonous. You sure got a good face for him here. You made a personal view of the snake with this angle. That is a unique perspective and rather enchanting since he looks more curious than anything else.

You are a braver person than I am Cathy ... but the result was definitely worth the risk :)
