Imperfection

Imperfection - Illustration Friday

Imperfect but still beautiful, sometimes it's the imperfection that makes something  perfect.  If something is too perfect it becomes bland.
This is a little china saucer, not quite as damaged as I've portrayed but still it's without a cup.  I have a weakness for bits of china going cheap perhaps because of a hairline crack...imperfect!  Does anyone else feel sorry for lonely imperfect china on auction sites?

I have trained myself not to succumb to little bits of lonely china in the charity shops! A gorgeous picture!

Oh my goodness, how much do I love this? It's gorgeous, and perfectly imperfect.

Beautiful job on the saucer! I have a mixing bowl given to us when we married 39 years ago that is cracked. I can't use it for mixing but I keep it and use it for light duty on occasion. How do you give up a 39 year old bowl you've used almost daily? Guess I should draw it before it breaks completely!

I love your delicate portrayal of the little saucer! I only wish I could find a treasure like that tucked away in a little shop somewhere!

I love this, it's so delicate and pretty! Even with the little crack, and without the cup, it's still a beautiful object by itself!

I love this! It looks very much like a pattern I coveted for years but couldn't afford. I certainly would have bought an imperfect piece, too, if I had run across one at the time! Now I don't dare bring one more piece of tableware into my house!!!

The make of the saucer is Aynsley, an English bone china, but I'm not sure of the pattern name. I have 2 saucers and no cups, I think I was hoping to find some one day!

It is so so beautiful, Cathy!! You've really given it such rich color and detail! It would be cool to frame this and hang it on the wall along with the saucer!!

What a lovely painting of a saucer! I agree that too perfect is bland.

I have a rather large collection of mis-matched china/pottery which I love to use for any occasion. I have a lovely, delicate Shelley cup with delicate blue flowers. I'm convinced that tea tastes better when served up in a china cup.

The saucer is just beautiful...one of my favorite patterns

Yes! Cathy, the china I coveted was Aynsley, too, and like you, I don't recall the pattern now, but it was surely the same one in your drawing.

It's beautiful, and how lucky for it that it's found a loving home to spend the rest of its days! nancy
