Leaning Gate

Driving down country roads you come across many of these old gateways, marking the entrance to someones's land.  I love the crumbly stone, the way nature seems to take over and the light dappling through the olive trees.
This one has a particularly nice gate even though it's leaning and is a bit bent, it's obviously had a life!

Yes, it surely has had a life and could tell wonderful stories. Lovely, lovely drawing/painting!

It's the fact that its bent that makes for such an interesting composition. I just love decay and things with a history. This is a lovely cameo, Cathy. x

I'm glad to see that you're still finding a little time to sketch and post. I always enjoy seeing things in your part of the world. Your sketch of the gate is beautiful. How lovely your drives must be through the countryside!

I like the very watercolory aspect of this! Nice - frameable - hangable.

How wonderful! I've missed your art :) I'm trying to get back into checking all the good stuff on EDM, so hopefully I'll stop by more often. Keep up the good work!

it looks like the setting for a children's fantasy story, like the secret garden.

There is something so appealing to me about gates and doorways. This drawing captures it well - I love the crumbling and leaning. You're right, it implies a lot of stories that could be told.

If it could only speak, wonder what its history would be? Lovely, thanks for sharing.
