Over the Hills and Faraway

After my previous post of sketches from the city I really feel  like some fresh air.  This is the Sicily that I love, up high looking out over the hills and mountains and yes with the wind in my hair!
I had to paint this from  a photograph I took at the end of the summer but it won't be long before I go back.

Watercolour and coloured pencil  32 x 24 cms

Really beautiful and it makes me miss and look forward to summer (it reminds me of Killarney, a place we love to go to and do our canoe trips, of course hike up to the hills : )

Wonderful painting!!!

I can see why you love Sicily with beautiful views like this one. I particularly like the sky in this piece. The whole painting is beautiful! nancy

This could easily be Wales - fresh air, mountains, peace and yes - wind. (plus rain, LOL)

Love that sky!

This looks so like the hills we are surrounded by - but I suspect your hills are somewhat warmer!!

I love this! The colors are gorgeous. It reminds me of the rolling hills around where I live too. I can't wait for better outdoor sketching weather either.

It's gorgeous! I really like the subtle and soft touches around the edges, makes the whole scenery so realistic and one could not help but to imagine being there. ^^ This is amazing!

What a beautiful view! It's a joy for the eye when one can see so far in the distance and admire such beautiful colours, gently fading near the horizon...

Very beautifully done. I love the contrast between the yellow and purple tints. The clouds and mountains - masterful! (and everything else too.)
