The Sketchbook Project 2011, the next four pages....

The next four pages are finished in my little sketchbook.  It's getting bulky now with all the pages I'm sticking in...I have to sit on it to make it go flat!
The first page here I did while I wasn't feeling too well (sore throat etc), and I think you can tell....just look at all those miserable faces, but the blue hair was great fun!
I originally chose the theme 'Face in the Crowd' because I need to draw more people and I'm certainly doing that.  The rat was a nice change and I'm sure I can slip in a few trees here and there!

If you want to see the previous pages they are here  and here .

Hi Cathy! Your sketchbook is going to be great! I'm doing the project too. Do you know if it's required to fill fronts and backs of pages? Can I just do fronts only? Thanks!
Also, what about gluing in copies of my drawings instead of originals? Is that allowed?

I just left a comment that left unexpectedly for parts unknown I believe--your work is spectacular with great wit !

Thank you Pat & Winna for your kind comments :)
Katherine - I'm sure it's ok to draw just on the fronts..the paper is so thin I'm sure many will do that.

Great pages! Particularly love the iro guy (that hair! *drool*). Also: Thanks for your explanation of the turtle drawing! (sort of relieving that you didn't do that on the spot ;D ).

I'm also only using one side of the pages. I just glue two together afterwards. I also glue in other stuff (collage-y things and better paper). One just has to work around those flimsy notebook pages... I always love to see what others are filling their sketchbooks with! Especially yours,Cathy. Your colored pencil skills are truely admirable!

Nice work. I like the light and the shadows on the second. Good.

I like that measure of success - if your sketchbook won't close flat unless you sit on, you've really accomplished something. :)

Great colored-pencil work. Looking forward to peeking around your blog at more pieces.

I know someone else who is taking part in this - as she really did not like the paper, she took her book to bits and put it back together with better paper!

I cannot tell that you weren't feeling well in the first one, since when I see a crowd, everything is a blur anyway and it looks like that is what you've captured. I really love the lighting on the woman's face!

The way you render your art with color pencils are just awesome! I like how you blend the colors, and it just brings out so much of the subjects. Love that little rat, he's got some really pretty eyes ^^

Looking good Cathy.....I was thinking of your theme whilst stuck in a very large crowd of people in rush hour this week...the rat race fits that perfectly! Love the rat

These are great Cathy. Love the rat. A great mental image of you sitting on the sketchbook too.

Hope the sore throat has gone now.

Wow, this book is really coming together now, I am amazed at all your ideas. The variety and thought behind it is incredible...
I love the turtle too, I saw it the other day but was pushed for time, he looks so content ~ great capture!
